Re HiDPI; A recent episode of the podcast Late Night Linux has a discussion of one of the hosts' experiences with his 4k monitor and a number of Linux distros. I think it starts at about 30 minutes in: https://latenightlinux.com/late-night-linux-episode-06/ https://latenightlinux.com/late-night-linux-episode-06/ AFAIR the best experience was with Unity 7 on Ubuntu. There is some discussion on why support on different desktops / distros is the way it is, and how automatic configuration might be improved, which might be of interest to HN readers. The chap doing the testing is the main dev / founder behind Budgie / Solus.
