Yeah, when I think SEO i think of the sleazy guy who has a gigantic link farm that if I pay him, will link to me. Part of it, as it seems to me, is that I simply don't understand what SEO research involves, and assume it means doing bad/lame stuff. adding transparency to the job/process would probably make it sexier, assuming that there's some real substance underneath...
