Yeah I'd 100% believe this. And to throw another data point in here, i just did it now at got a room at the central park hotel for $180 CAD / night for 2 nights. The only other good thing about this approach is that I find meetings often get canceled or delayed due to flights not getting in. Canceling hotels is expensive, when you do not book till the last minute canceling becomes very rare.
