Interesting, I'm guessing Amazon are doing this as they're concerned at Microsoft getting companies onto Azure as part of a package with Office365. Replicating the basic functionality is likely do-able, but the power user functionality of office can be pretty complex (e.g. Macros) and a lot of users are quite attached to it.
