I've had a similar experience with Comcast in the past. The biggest problem with using my own Modem is pretty much every time I call support, they blame it on my Modem. This includes the time when the cable wire outside the building was disconnected by one of their Techs who was working on the neighbor's connection. Class actions against Comcast should be a dime a dozen.
