Reminds me of a website I built once (more like a side project) where I anticipated heavy loads and all sorts of nefarious users / bad situations so I spent a good chunk of time implementing and testing rate limiters into most of the critical requests. I ended up getting maybe... 3 or 4 well-behaved visitors / day for the first two years.
