I could not agree more. I am also dependent on a single platform and am acutely aware of the fact that this is not a good long term (6 mo +) investment of my time. However, building for a popular platform is a good way to make some quick cash without having to worry about anything but the quality of your product (ie. getting discovered, marketing, payment processing, etc.)

Is a meta-platform possible? Leaving 3.3.1 aside, what about a company acting as a clearinghouse that takes care of all of the platform issues for you, submits your app, markets it, takes care of payment. Perhaps this is possible with Javascript web apps for mobile devices?
