Honestly, it's because sometimes I read comments on HN that remind me that there are people that look at life like it's an optimization problem. And, I'm pretty sure that I don't score well in their objective function And, I guess that freaks me out, especially when it's probable that some of these same people will oneday control the tech and data that run the world.
