I also think this project is really interesting (which is why I'm following it and some of the forks).
May I recommend Microsoft's TrueSkill algorithm for ranking genomes? There's C#[1] and Java[2] implementations available. Full disclosure, I have no association with Microsoft Research, but I am the author of JSkills.

- natep 16y agoEDIT (because for some reason my only option is reply): The other cool thing about TrueSkill is that it can handle multiple players on multiple teams. So, if anyone decides to add the capability for 1v1v1, 1v2, 1v1v2, etc, TrueSkill is ready.
