Unions were created to deal with employer abuses in the new industrial age. Now the vast majority of union members are employed by the government. Tech workers are the best paid of all non-management fields, and their managers generally treat them well or they will leave to make 20% more elsewhere. I don't think tech workers want coworkers who can act incompetently and who can't be fired. I have always viewed those agitating for tech workers to join unions as completely out of touch with what most tech workers want.
