Me thinking: please don't say the Bible, please don't say the Bible!
The Bible.
Because when I was young and I tried reading it I realized that even though millions and millions of perfectly functioning adults believe in something, it might be absolutely wrong or based on basically nothing.
- Balgair 10y agoI'll leave The Bible out of the discussion, but echo the point made. As one human race, we can all come together, try very hard, regardless of class or race or creed or sex, in earnest support of one another, and can collectively make terrible decisions like Daylight Savings Time.

With proper attribution, I think this statement would be worthy of framing and public display. Keep that in mind in case you get famous :)
- Balgair 10y agoThis is a high complement, you have made my Monday that much better. Thank you! =).
- icantdrive55 10y agoI won't say too much, but practicing some of the lesseons taught by Jesus just might help a person. Not through divine intervention, but in a subtler way. The right girl/boy sees you have ethics/morality. She takes a second look. The potential business partner feels they could trust you like a family member, and decides it's you who he/she wants to invest in. And yes--I know people can take advantage of you to. Treating people with compassion, and honesty shouldn't be looked as a liability. I know too many people whom are financially well off, but just misserable. They have no real friends. Their kids use them. And they never figure out why. They are always blaming someone, or something for their missery, or loneliness. An acquaintance of mine spent pretty much every waking hour trying to get ahead of the "competition". He treated people as tools to get ahead in life. He could quote Sun Sue, and Carnige's book. He tried to cover his selfish ways, but they were still glaring obvious. He wanted the model girlfriend. He delayed the simple things in life. He thought it would all work out when his current company became successful. He went into a doctor's office in January of this year, with heartburn. He died a few weeks later of esophegial cancer.

Even as a confident Christian, there are many people who profess to be Christians but who have a very different understanding of what that means than I. To me, being a Christian is about having faith in Christ's divinity and the truthfulness of His message, and striving to live my life as is asked of me. I often fail, but I persist. To others this seemingly cannot be the case, because they attribute words, actions, and attitudes to Christ and to God that serve only themselves and are at odds with scripture.
- libx 10y agoHi LyndsySimon, I read your post in another topic where you said that you were loosing weight by eating a ketonic diet. Got curious, followed your profile and arrived here, just to tell you two things. One that I can see that you're thinking different, and I congratulate you for this, as it's not easy to do so. Second, that regarding religions you can perhaps take a step ahead, too. God is universal. Religions are man made and serve to divide. - Findeton 10y agoSuperman is also universal, as a concept. God may well be just a concept, not a reality.
