Both my wife and I skipped a grade in elementary school. Neither of us had any issues and were both successful academically as well as in our careers. I was both the class clown and a frequent bully (not something I'm proud of) so being a year younger than everyone didn't make me less social or vocal. I met someone who was the youngest in his grade and he wished he was held back. I think it definitely depends on the individual.
