Give me a 50+ inch 8K concave OLED desktop display with a matte surface and I will pay a huge premium.
My predictions aren't holding up [1]. I feel too many customers are satisfied with small form-factor and/or are tolerant of using multiple displays and suffering the inconvenience of bezels.

- intrasight 10y agoOr even 42" flat OLED. They'll come soon enough.
- peeters 10y agoWhat's the use case where bezels are inconvenient? For me I want natural delineation of workspace. Being able to snap applications to 3 physical boundaries makes it easier for me to organize my work, vs one massive display where every window is floating arbitrarily. I'm not saying those are the only two options, I'm just curious what the downside is, specifically with productivity use. I feel like if I had a 50" concave display, I'd want my window manager to have some kind of logical organization similar to what I'd have with multiple monitors anyway.
- RussianCow 10y agoFor one, you can't actually expand something across multiple screens. Depending on the kind of work you do (especially anything visual like graphics), the bezels may be a deal-breaker. Personally, I also just prefer having one large monitor because my head doesn't need to move.
- dpark 10y agoWhat kind of "huge" premium are you talking about here? Because your projections were wildly incorrect. You proposed a target price of $1200 for a 50-inch 8k display with a target date of a year ago. Instead Dell is selling a 32-inch 8k display for $5000, and still not actually shipping. I'd imagine that if Dell started selling what you're describing, the price range would be $30k or more at this point.
- izacus 10y agoAt this point even a 4K 50" display costs around 6000$... how much of a premium would you pay? 20.000$?
- hocuspocus 10y agoNo true, LG sells its 2016 curved 55" UHD OLED TV for $2000. But 8K/UHD-2 might take a while, since the marginal gain from such a resolution is probably not going to be huge for your typical TV viewing experience, and it would cause problems at many levels.
