Henry Ford paying his workers enough to buy his own products transformed an entire nation. Foxcon and Apple's profits are big enough that they could actively try and raise the standard of living of their own employees instead of joining the race to the bottom. Shareholders will need to be mollified but maybe Apple could be on the right side of history if something big is going to change in China's worker relations in the coming years.
