Apple's ritual of taking its store down every time they need to add a few SKUs is amazing for a company its size.
- neilalexander 10y agoOn the contrary, they realise that doing so will create hype. They know exactly what they're doing.
- shshhdhs 10y agoThis is just speculation. The marketing team might have just hated the "under maintenance page" and turned a negative into a positive. This is also speculation.
- Twisell 10y agoExcept this actually ensure that no client will be pissed off because he confirmed his purchase only to discover that price dropped 1 min after... By interrupting current carts and letting customers wait a few moments it help easing out this kind of bad surprise. And by the time store get back up frustrated customer already had time to figure out that he just have to make a phone call to modify order and that's not so harsh all in all.
