My city in Germany, Karlsruhe, has had dockless cycle rental and it works great, despite what the armchair experts in this thread say about how this could never work in the Western World. It's 1€ per 30 minutes, 9€ for the day, or 48€ per year for unlimited 30 minute trips. Since 30 minutes suffice to get just about anywhere in the city it's basically unlimited use, and you can just drop off your bike and take the next one a few minutes later if you do get close to the limit.
- danbruc 10y agoStill available in 11 cities such as Berlin, Munich, and Cologne. [1] Not sure if their are any competing providers. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_a_Bike https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_a_Bike
