Obvious ways to cheat: - Only the things you are directly experiencing and seeing is simulated to a high degree. - If you ever came close to discovering the true state of the universe, the game might simply erase those thoughts or twists things to make them fit again. - People who really study physics and have access to detecting whether the universe is a simulation are all NPCs :)
