The mapping layer to treat Optane as RAM, comes from ScaleMP. They have a free tier product. For heavily read intensive databases, cheap read optimize SSD can work pretty well with that. Now I don't have to also buy a product license with Optane, to do that, the price for the Optane drive looks much better to me. Not sure drive is quite the right word, any more. Has a better nomenclature settled yet?
