It's _NOT_ a problem anymore. I just bought a Hackintosh with components from Tonymacx86's guide. It was literally just to assemble everything, create a bootable USB with the Unibeast tool (which uses the Clover bootloader) and then install it. And it just works. OS updates etc. are not an issue, and I do it just like I would on my Macbook Pro.
Only thing is iMessage/iCloud. It takes a little to set up correctly, as you'd have to "hack" the serial numbers etc., but once it works, it just works.
