That isn't a bad idea at all. Since connecting a pipe is largely impossible because of the high pressure, maybe anchoring a larger flexible canopy over the well site to contain sub-sea plumes and funnel it to a couple of outputs would work... It would be difficult to control the "canvas" underwater though because of current and other unknown variables.
