Ahh memories. When I was in undergrad I convinced IBM to send 12 ThinkCenter desktops to me to play with MPI and other multiprocessor systems. While it certainly was fun to set up the systems, it was a pain in the rear to come up with stuff to run on it.
5 years later, you could get the same number of CPU cores in a single machine...
