I have a degree - and it was valuable - but I also feel that the thousands of hours at home was irreplaceable, and has played a huge part in being able to get the jobs I wanted. There are some things that are only learned by creating something very massive entirely by yourself, just like there are some things that are only learned by working on something big in a team.
