Show HN: Your precise age updated live
- saamm 10y agoIf we're trying to be precise, why not also enter the time at which we were born?
- 19eightyfour 10y agoIndeed. And the timezone or location. And maybe break it out into seconds as well.
- nilkesede 10y agolooks like its not so precise
- thisisdave 10y agoIt is, it's just not accurate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accuracy_and_precision https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accuracy_and_precision
- tmnvix 10y agoYou need two locations; place of birth and current location.
- oleg131 10y agoI thought about that, but in the end decided to go for simplicity.
- fiatjaf 10y agoIt takes a lot to load, but I like it.
- sushid 10y agoIf you guys are interested seeing this update every day, there is a nifty Chrome extension for it. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mortality-new-tab/eeedcpdcehnikgkhbobmkjcipjhlbmpn?hl=en-US https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mortality-new-tab/...
- polygot 10y agoIt would be cool if it showed me how many years I have left (based on average life expectancy.) Would be a bit depressing though.
- Ysx 10y agoHave tried similar, and included a widget on my phone's home screen. Moved too slowly to be motivating/demotivating, though could be interesting longer-term.
- chias 10y agoIt seems to operate off of a unix timestamp and doesn't mind future values, so throw the unix timestamp of your expected death-date in there and watch it count down :) This is me: http://justanumber.co/?ts=2936995200 http://justanumber.co/?ts=2936995200 (using death-clock.org to get the end-date)
- dvcc 10y agoGoing off that. It would be pretty cool if there was an app that showed your average death-date but also connected to multiple platforms to show extensions in your death date. Hey you got your resting heart rate down X, ran Y miles last month and had cholesterol drop Z, you extended your life an estimated ~1.5 years!
- zackify 10y agoThis has been a chrome plugin for years already. It's called motivation: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/motivation/ofdgfpchbidcgncgfpdlpclnpaemakoj?hl=en https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/motivation/ofdgfpc... Edit: I see it's mentioned when you click about :)
- oleg131 10y agoYep, that was the motivation =). Although i did write my own function to calculate the number of years, so that i would take into account leap years. Surprisingly, not many solutions exist for that...
