I think "--[star]" could do well: the "[star]" emphasizes the "pop" in the lolly. Touch it once, and it's gone. EDIT: Having trouble typesetting the asterisk!

- Jtsummers 10y ago* gets swallowed up for italicizing text on HN. Best way to get literal text is a line with two (or more) leading space characters: --*
