Same story from the 90s: there was a company called IDX in Massachusetts (and Vermont) which sucked in many MIT recent grads. They were bought by GE healthcare. One person I know is still working there, making periodic trips to Burlington. I think MUMPS was closely tied to VAX VMS at one point. I'm sure HP (Compaq (DEC)) still makes MUMPS money from OpenVMS.
