It is this turn in the culture that has made me turn toward esotericism. If I believe myself in possession of a truth, and it's not a popular truth, I will publicize it by laying down puzzles to mislead people with truth values flipped the other way - puzzles which can give the opposite conclusion if solved from a more doubting stance. In the process I get to refine my own thinking on these matters, too. Then if history judges me well, I can look like a misunderstood, ahead-of-my-time genius, instead of a bully or a pariah.
Actually participating in the front-line reconstruction of truth is too messy and dangerous for me, I'm afraid.
