headline is a little bit misleading and withholds contextual information, making it seem more sensational than it actually seem
from the article's second paragraph: "The student union at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) insists that when studying philosophy “the majority of philosophers on our courses” should be from Africa and Asia."
while i might disagree with some of the nuances of the petition/movement, "Oriental/African Studies students want more representation from Oriental/African scholars" seems like a slightly better condensation of the article
- aiiane 10y agoI really wish the article actually linked to whatever the SOAS actually said, as it seems to be written with a very opinionated slant. It's hard to tell how many liberties the article is taking with its quoting.
- charlesism 10y agoPeople love stories about "political correctness gone mad." Why rain on their parade.
