As a user this frustrates me no end. I want my apps to be sandboxed to protect my computer. I want my apps to all be in a central repository that automates a bunch of painful processes (buying, updating, etc). But the Mac App Store is a dumpster fire at the moment. Its impossible to find the thing you want, its hard for developers to comply. Its the worst possible outcome of the store concept. Apple really needs to lift its game.
