Ask HN: Will you start a new Saas if there are established players in that niche?
Have you succeeded doing something like this? How did you achieve that?
- herbst 10y agoMy competitors are well known email providers like mailgun and mailchimp as well as a free service. I just ignored that and build a very specific service (which is just a small part of mailguns offering) for a conpetitive price. I also choose to host in switzerland and provide the best possible data privacy. So far it works well. IMO you just need to be more focused or better in any way
- pvsukale3 10y agocool! What is the name of your service? Btw how did you manage not get marked as spam or blacklisted? because I read new email providers have so many hurdles .They often get marked as spam.
- herbst 10y agoIt is ForwardMX. I only forward emails and dont allow sending over my service. I can not avoid getting blacklisted at some point but i have a system that checks for this and a hoster that gives me new ips within minutes :) Also i am building in more and more things to make aure that does not happen ao fast like next is SRS
- wayn3 10y agoTalking about smalltime saas where the TAM is 10M annually. My biggest competitors founder just quit his own SaaS because he thinks his cofounder is not that smart and I'm running a testimonial with his face on it saying "This is the product I actually wanted to build when I started [other company]" So yea. Why not :P
