There were two culprits: an honest (if careless) misunderstanding about technology on the part of the press; and yet another shrewd misinformation campaign orchestrated by WikiLeaks. I think these two sentences basically sum up the entire email dump. Can't believe how much time have I spent convincing people that this dump has absolutely nothing to do with Signal's encryption and that it's still perfectly safe to use it.
