I tried to get into org mode and even ordered the printed manual, but it was just too much configuration work and shortcut memorizing, to be honest. Maybe another time. For now I've reverted to using an Action Day Planner[1] and Leuchtturm1917[2] notebooks with numbered pages for notes, and I'm fairly happy with this system.
In hindsight, given the many things I've tried, email + pencil&paper is still hard to beat.

- lallysingh 10y agoThey're for different kinds of work, really. I use a Leuchtturm1917 with a nice fountain pen for deep thinking and analysis, and org-mode for running notes while doing work. org-mode is very deep, and you shouldn't try to learn it all at once. Start off small in a way that you find it useful, then start adding in features as you need. There's no need to use all, or even many, of the features for most use cases. But it's nice to have them when needed.
