Missing is an explanation on how unitary patents lead to software patents - I found this, but something more up-to-date would be appreciated: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/europes-unitary-patent.html https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/europes-unitary-patent.html I'm reminded of some people's objection to RMS's view of large proprietary software companies as the enemy, saying we can all get along, look at how much MS contributes to open-source, etc. But those same companies (e.g. the Business Software Alliance) lobby for software patents and anti-circumvention laws. You may not think of them as the enemy, but the reverse is not true. They are already working to reduce your freedom, and part of every dollar or euro you give them goes to buying laws which hurt you.
