Ask HN: Is the internet less interesting today, or am I just getting older?

Hi everyone! Like many of you here, I was obsessed with the internet (and technology at large) when I was younger. I couldn't get enough. I read programming books. I built stuff. I was so happy. Now I just want to get away from it. I've lost my obsession. The internet just doesn't feel like a welcoming place anymore; it feels cold and rigid. One of my favorite aspects of the internet circa early-mid 2000s was that it was imperfect and "folksy", for lack of a better word. It struck such a harmonious balance of "extremely important" and "just a toy" that made me smile. So my question is, is the internet less interesting today, or am I just getting older?
