I tried some of the earlier versions of the JS target (v4). Like you say: the happy path works well. What I disliked is that, in unpredictable cases, there were nulls in the generated output. This made me feel doubtful about using it, so I wrote my own parser by hand. It turned out to be a good decision: it was fun, and I learned a lot.
