Ask HN: Looking for paypal alternates, recommendations?
As the title says I'm looking for alternates to paypal for my subscription based startup. I'm running this from Canada, with services available worldwide.
- bryanh 16y agoCheck out Spreedly and their list of gateways: http://spreedly.com/info/payment-gateways/ http://spreedly.com/info/payment-gateways/

- ErrantX 16y agoTerrible customer service (Paypals is better, but only by virtue of existing :))
- norbu09 16y agoonly works in the US. amazon payments would another one but US only as well. both insist in a US bank account

- lleger 16y agoChargify.
- dgunnars 16y agoYou might checkout dalpay.com. Global payment site here in Iceland, decent rates.
- Vivtek 16y agoMoneybookers.
- jules 16y agoWhat would you guys recommend for - non US based company - selling to companies - subscriptions of $100 - $1000 per month I care more about reliability and customer experience than a few % transaction costs (it's nothing compared to taxes ;) Ogone [http://ogone.com/ http://ogone.com/] seems like the only option...does anyone have experience with them?
- captaincrunch 16y agoThat water drip logo looks very fishy, lol. I see that image/logo on a ton of sites.
- jules 16y agoYeah, and their website is extremely complicated. I would rather have this: - a list of pictures and short text explaining what your customer can do - a list of pictures and short text explaining what you have to do to set it up - a table of rates For example, I have a hard time finding out what payment methods my customers will be able to use. On the other hand, what are the alternatives outside the US? Nearly every payment method I see is US-only.
- paraschopra 16y ago2checkout is an option. We use them for Visual Website Optimizer. Though their transaction costs are high: 5.5%
- jules 16y agoThanks I will check them out.
