I worked as a programmer for a promotional marketing company and their modus operandi was to copy everything they could from their biggest competitor. Eventually, it even got so bad that we were instructed to copy, word for word, certain disclosures from the competitor's web site. The big competitor is still the big competitor and my former employer is still doing OK but they'll never catch or pass anyone by copying what they're doing.
