Being responsible for a full system, end-to-end which included learning Elasticsearch, deep diving into Django to integrate some complicated search forms, setting up and maintaining servers. What I've learned is it's about the amount of responsibility you get. If you're responsible for something, ideally something critical to the product, you learn a lot delivering that product. That's how I grew anyway.
