- tutanchamun 10y agoDoesn't Prime95 use AVX2 and FMA3 since version 28.5, which pushes Intel's power consumption higher? Can that be disabled?
- jhasse 10y agoYes, that's probably the reason for the increased power consumption. But Ryzen also supports AVX2, doesn't it?
- tutanchamun 10y agoAh yeah, remembered it false. I thought Ryzen had no AVX2, but actually it has it, but at half the speed.
- throwaway2048 10y agoHalf the width, 128bit vs 256bit. Often translates to half the speed but not always.
- hajile 10y agoRyzen is half as wide, but executes at full speed. Intel drastically reduces clockspeeds when executing AVX. http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/white-papers/performance-xeon-e5-v3-advanced-vector-extensions-paper.pdf http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/...
