- ceejayoz 10y agoIt doesn't take that much imagination to make it nightmarish, though. Give it a circular saw on the end of one of those arms. The descendants of these things are quite likely to see combat service.
- friedman23 10y agoIt's still something stupid to be scared of, drones with bombs are significantly more dangerous and significantly more practical at holding people hostage than robots.
- 1001101 10y agoHow has that worked out?
- ceejayoz 10y agoISIS has seen some successes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po8bfnvbRyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po8bfnvbRyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRC0mZDnCsA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRC0mZDnCsA
- friedman23 10y agoThe US military isn't a totalitarian despot that is willing to kill any and all civilians to maintain power in the middle east. So really it hasn't been tried.
- cholantesh 10y agoNo, but it is plausible that some of its NATO allies are not quite as disciplined or altruistic, and IIRC, the treaty allows dissemination of weapons technology (and associated knowledge) among the allied states.
- ceejayoz 10y agoIt's entirely possible to find both of those prospects nightmarish.
- 1001101 10y agoIt's a means to project power that can be mass produced, and without the impediment of a conscience. This fills my nightmares.
- programmernews3 10y agoExactly. Imagine when it is loaded with guns and other weaponry
- sverige 10y agoThen the only question is who controls the target list.
- dominotw 10y agoOn the plus side, clickbait title attract a wider audience to the subject. I know lot of people with zero interest in robotics like these 'creepy' robots.
