While some of these 'legal conspiracy theories' are undoubtedly ridiculous (e.g. the people who think invoking 'sovereign citizen' will make an iota of difference). But I have some sympathy for these beliefs - there's sometimes good advice (sometimes you need a lawyer before talking to the police) that might seem like a conspiracy or hoops you need to jump through. Hearing some legal arguments seems like semantics to the uninformed. This is probably why people think the legal system is 'magic'.
