I'm really sad to see this news. When I was at Google working in Amit's organization, I thought Amit's department was a really good example of an organization that respected women, promoted women into positions of power, and just seemed like a very inclusive and supportive environment. I was hoping that he would help clean up Uber, because Google search quality sure as hell did not work like any of these Uber horror stories that are coming out. Well that sure isn't going to happen now. I don't know anything about whether these allegations are true or false but I am sad either way. If it's true then someone I looked up to is actually not such a great role model, and if it's not true then Uber is missing out on an executive who knows how things work in a better-run organization and could help them, and if I'm just wrong because I didn't see all the harassment that was going on in my workplace before then that's depressing too. :-(
