What the fuck? I'd walk and never entertain an offer from a company that spent the interview insulting and provoking me. Who would be stoked to get an offer after an experience like that, much less accept it??
- mirimir 10y agoI'm guessing that it was the glamor (Uber) and the money. And the challenge to beat those assholes at their game.
- waisbrot 10y agoFamous example: http://www.businessinsider.com/hyman-rickover-interview-techniques-2014-4 http://www.businessinsider.com/hyman-rickover-interview-tech... I don't know if it's actually useful when interviewing for a job with lives on the line, but I would guess that it creates an effect where the worse the interview experience is the happier you feel when you pass it.
- Asooka 10y agoThat's quite different from what Amy alleges happened to her at the interview.
- cobookman 10y agowe kind of do that to our government officials no?
- einars 10y agoHave you not been in a stressful technical interview situation? I have even heard of people doing this on purpose to weed out people who don't "perform under pressure".
- mi100hael 10y agoIn my mind there's a pretty clear difference between being challenged to justify your answers or go into deeper detail in a response and being intentionally insulted. I'm not thin skinned, but I'm not about to go to work for someone after they spend an hour or more calling me retarded.
- yummyfajitas 10y agoIt wouldn't bother me much. I've worked with people who couldn't handle pressure, who would just shut down and blank out when you criticized their plans or gave negative feedback. It's not pleasant - such people force you to spend more time thinking about their feelings than about technology or strategy. People like that shut down the free exchange of ideas. I'd much rather suffer through a grueling interview for a day than work with such people on a daily basis. Being a healthy adult without PTSD, I don't get "triggered" by interviewers questioning me or playing games.
