Goes to show you never know what someone knows from their previous life experiences, and that you should not judge a book by its cover. Given how poorly academics, research and other fields pay, I wouldn't be entirely surprised to find that there are highly educated people trying to make ends meet working for the TSA or Customs. And odds are they are eager to dust off that knowledge and put it to use when they can.
