Anecdotal incident: My friends and I were held for 2+ hours driving into Canada once, ~16 years ago. All 4 of us were questioned separately. Vehicle repeatedly searched very thoroughly. shrug I've always chalked it up to it being a fairly boring and unrewarding job and they made a wrong judgement on who we might be or something.
