How often does this happen? The truth is, it shouldn't be a surprise if occasionally/rarely you hit a road bump and can't easily get over it. Why not be up front about it, but also confident in your abilities, as evidenced by your work so far? If this happens often, then I would probably recommend serious focus to get up-to-speed with the level of work your employer seems to expect.
