I was one of those `Poor African Children` at some point so when I read your comment I didn't exactly know how to respond. I took a short walk and tried to calm down. So after calming down all I can think of saying to you is `Screw you`.

If I were you, I would rather consider being angry about the parents for their decision than about a HNler who speaks out an inconvenient truth. If you feel offended by the statement that you perhaps read between the lines that I wish you never existed? I believe this wish is the best that you can wish to another person - and I openly admit that I often wished this for myself. So you rather should feel deeply honored by that wish, if you read this between the lines. Believe me: I do have pity for the poor African kids - and this is why am very vocal about preventing this from happening.

  I've upvoted you. People will take your message the wrong way but ultimately, for the vast majority of people, life is a struggle with only brief moments of happiness, if any at all. Forcing onto others to live a life where you ultimately die is not a gift, but an act of vain cruelty born out of selfishness. Especially if you cannot provide a good standard of living for your children. You are knowingly condemning them to a life of misery where at best they'll claw their way out of it through blood, sweat and tears or at worst they'll make the decision to take their own life.

No one could have understood what you posted in this sense, and singling out Africa the way you did is incredibly rude. Please do not post to HN like this. Comments here need to be both civil and substantive, and yours was neither.

I hear you, friend. There are lots of leftist subgroups who are difficult to stomach, but the most revolting have got to be these neo-eugenicist racist fuckers who claim to believe that no child can be happy (or worth existing!) without Happy Meals and mobile phones. As if 99% of the people who ever lived didn't go without both of those things... If these assholes actually cared about the environment they would live more sustainably, like the poor kids in Africa they wish didn't ever exist.
