I agree, it sounds like the author is arguing that the direction games take needs to change, in order to promote a positive cultural shift. He sounds like he's thought a lot about what he's writing about, but it seemed like he sometimes spent several paragraphs speaking from the opposite perspective of his own, in a way that was a bit jarring.
