Think this pains people because we used to believe Apple had values above pure profit and would see the non-monetary value in supplying a high end system for people working at the fringe of technology. All sorts of decisions that are actually bad for consumers can be justified by pointing to money, doesn't mean they're good decisions. e.g I bet dongle sales have skyrocketed since the iPhone 7 and new MBP.
