FWIW, I lived with someone who chopped diabetics' feet off for her living, and she always, always, always did her best to make that option a last resort, "the only alternative is total incapacitation" medical decision. She would have loved to have an app like this. So in my anecdotal experience at least, doctors are at least trying to do the right thing.
