Professional android (and previously ios) developer here.
If you know what to do then AS is pretty great. If you want to compare it with xcode then xcode is a sad state of affairs imho, lacking a lot of features that AS has.
It was a bit painful to have to see my ios colleagues have to resort to textsearch to find out where a certain member was being accessed, i mean come on.
The little ios dev I still do I do in Jetbrains' AppCode. Much better for actually coding.

- babesh 10y agoPut cursor on the method. Tap the icon of a 2x2 grid for the file. Tap the callers menu item.
- dep_b 10y agoYeah now I read my post again the sarcasm wasn't completely obvious. Sorry. Still I was working today in Xcode and the reason I still use CMD+SHIFT+F and T so often is because it's so blazingly fast. Instant. Other IDE's have a full text search that is much slower than a more exact method anyway.
- jonandersense 10y agoI prefer AppCode as well, being able to refactor, rename is such a time saver. However AppCodes test runner is really annoying if you switch back to Xcode you'll have tons of new schemas created. Xcodes test runner seems faster than Appcode
- john-foley 10y agoI'm with you on AppCode. Waaay better editing/completion/navigation than XCode.
